CREA Learning Academy invites children ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of age, anywhere in the world, to participate in the 2019 CREA Annual Writing Contest.

As a continuation of the theme from last year, the topic for this is year is also ‘IMAGINATION IN EDUCATION’.

To participate in this Contest, describe in 300 – 500 words what ‘Imagination in Education’ means to you.

Contest entries are due by September 30, 2019 at 11:59 pm US Eastern Standard Time. Entries are acceptable only from individual students. No group creation would be allowed entry into the contest.

If permitted by relevant local regulations, the 2019 CREA Annual Writing Contest (“Contest”) is open to any child between ten (10) and fourteen (14) years of age at the time of entering the Contest. Current employees, officers, directors and agents of CREA and its related companies and members of their immediate families (defined as spouse, parents, siblings and children) are not eligible to participate.

GROUP 1: 10 - 12 years old​

GROUP 2: 13 - 14 years old


To enter, submit a complete Contest entry at the submission website or via email to with the subject ‘CREA Writing Contest Entry’ no later than September 30, 2019 at 11:59 am US Eastern Time. Limit one (1) Contest entry per person.


Must complete submission form online, or must include in the email text 1) contestant’s full name, 2) email address, 3) name of school, 4) age, 5) gender, and 6) grade/class.

  • Contestant must declare that s/he has permission from parent(s) to submit the essay.

  • Contest entry should be a short original, previously unpublished essay on the Contest topic.

  • Contest entry must be in English, with correct spelling and grammar, and must be written in 300 - 500 words. No substitutions of new drafts or corrected pages will be accepted once original Contest entry has been submitted.

  • Written responses that are obscene, pornographic, libelous or otherwise objectionable will be automatically disqualified.

  • All Contest entries become the property of CREA and will not be returned. CREA assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, or unintelligible entries.

  • By submitting a Contest entry, the contestant fully and unconditionally accepts and agrees to these Official Rules and the decisions of CREA, which are final and binding.


CREA is looking for eligible Contestants who follow directions and submit Contest entries that are well-written and clearly and creatively address the Contest topic. After September 30, 2019 a qualified panel of judges will select winners based on the criteria of writing ability (25%), creativity (25%), originality (25%), and overall demonstration of imagination (25%). In the event of a tie, winners will be decided based on the score for overall excellence.

On or around October 31, 2019 winners will be notified via e-mail. CREA shall have no liability for lost or intercepted notification for any reason. CREA reserves the right to choose no Contest Prize Recipient if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible Contest entries of satisfactory caliber.

Portions or the entirety of the Prize Winning Essays may be posted on CREA's website, or used in other marketing materials, without further compensation or notice to the winners.


​Contest Prize may not be assigned, transferred, or changed, except at the sole discretion of CREA. The awarding of any Contest Prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Contest Rules and subject to CREA's verification of Contestant and Contestant's submission. Contestants understand that CREA is not liable for injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from participation in this Contest Program and acceptance, possession and use of Contest Prize. CREA is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Contest or in the announcement of the Contest Prize. Taxes on prizes are sole responsibility of Contest Prize Recipients.


CREA will never use or sell Contestant’s information for purposes other than those related to the Contest. By submitting a Contest entry, contestants acknowledge that CREA and its related companies may also call and/or send them related information it thinks may be of interest to them.


Except where prohibited, by accepting a Contest Prize, the Contest Prize Recipients agree that CREA may, without any limitation or further compensation or notice, use his or her name, and/or work in any and all media, worldwide, for the purpose of advertising and promoting the Website, CREA, the Contest, or any other promotion, contest or sweepstakes sponsored by CREA.


By submitting a Contest entry, each Contestant irrevocably grants, transfers, sells, assigns and conveys to CREA, its successors and assigns, all present and future right, title and interest of every kind and nature whatsoever, including, without limitation, all copyrights, and all rights incidental, subsidiary, ancillary or allied thereto (including, without limitation, all derivative rights) in and to the Contest entry and the written submission(s) for exploitation throughout the universe, in perpetuity, by means of any and all media and devices whether now known or hereafter devised. CREA shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to edit, composite, morph, scan, duplicate, or alter, the Contest entry and written submission(s) for any purpose which CREA deems necessary or desirable, and each Contestant irrevocably waives any and all so-called moral rights they may have in the Contest entry and written submission(s) submitted by him or her. Each Contestant hereby acknowledges that s/he does not reserve any rights in and to the Contest entry and the written response submissions.


Except where prohibited, by participating, Contestant agrees that all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Contest Rules, or the rights and obligations of participants and CREA and their agents shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the state of New Jersey, USA, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law of any jurisdiction. Contestant agrees that any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to this Contest, or awarding of the prizes, shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the state of New Jersey and Contestant hereby consents and submits to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action. Except where prohibited, by participating in this Contest, Contestant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or awarding of the Contest Prizes, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in this Contest but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above may not apply to you.


Each person who enters this Contest represents and warrants to CREA as follows:

(i) the Contest entry, including the written essay submission is the Contestant's own original, previously unpublished, and previously unproduced work;

(ii) the written submission is wholly original with Contestant and as of the date of submission, is not the subject of any actual or threatened litigation or claim;

(iii) the written submission neither infringes upon nor violates the intellectual property rights or other rights of any other person or entity;

(iv) the submission does not and will not violate any applicable laws, and meets the submission requirements set forth above. Each Contestant hereby agrees to indemnify and hold CREA harmless from and against any and all third party claims, actions or proceedings of any kind and from any and all damages, liabilities, costs and expenses relating to or arising out of any breach or alleged breach of any of the warranties, representations or agreements of contestant here under.


By entering the Contest, each contestant acknowledges and agrees that CREA, its related companies, affiliates, and each such company's respective employees, officers, directors and agents are not responsible for any costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising from or in connection with:

(i) incomplete, lost, late, misdirected or illegible entries or for failure to receive Contest entries due to any cause, including without limitation human, transmission, or technical problems, failures, or malfunctions of any kind, whether originating with sender, or otherwise, that may limit a contestant's ability to participate in the Contest; or

(ii) any injury or damage resulting, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from participation in the Contest and/or the use of any prize, including, without limitation, claims, costs, injuries, losses and damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to, loss or destruction of property, or any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages related to or based on the contestant's rights of publicity or privacy, or the contestant's claim that s/he has somehow been defamed or portrayed in a false light.

CREA assumes no responsibility for any damage to a contestant's computer system which is occasioned by accessing the website or participating in the Contest, or for any computer system, phone line, hardware, software or program malfunctions, or other errors, failures, delayed computer transmissions or network connections that are human or technical in nature, or for the incorrect or inaccurate capture of information, or the failure to capture any information.


In the event CREA is prevented from continuing with the Contest by any event beyond its reasonable control, then CREA shall have the right in its sole discretion to modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest.


CREA reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who is found to be tampering with the Contest entry process or the operation of the Contest or the website, to be acting in violation of these Contest Rules, to be submitting responses dishonestly or inaccurately, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of any entrant, the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter will be deemed to be the entrant. The "authorized account holder" is the natural person assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address. If a Contest entry is confirmed by CREA to have been erroneously deleted, lost or destroyed, the entrant's sole remedy shall be another entry, if time permits. CREA's failure to enforce any term of these Contest Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or of any other provision.


The names of the Prize Recipients of this Contest will be posted on the CREA Learning Academy Website.​
